Hyung Suk Kim
Principal Investigator @ MAXAM
Hyung Suk Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Gachon University and a former Staff Engineer II at Samsung Display. His research advances organic optoelectronic materials and devices by integrating molecular photophysics, OLED device physics, computational modeling, and molecular design. At the core of his work is a central question: how molecular excited-state processes govern the efficiency, color purity, stability, and operational limits of OLEDs.
Across KAIST, OPERA at Kyushu University, and Samsung Display, his work has connected fundamental studies of excited-state behavior with practical OLED device performance, ranging from the microscopic origins of efficiency loss to the molecular and device-level design of high-performance organic emitters.
Through MAXAM, he seeks to establish rational design principles for organic light-emitting materials and to translate them into next-generation optoelectronic technologies through the convergence of photophysics, computation, and device engineering.
